Some amusing sightings on recent wanderings.

Recently I had an assignment where a some local children built an enormous tower of legos...

And then got inside.
I can honestly say, I've never seen so many people crammed inside a lego tower...hut...thing.


At another assignment, I asked for the whereabouts of the bathroom. I was told there was one on the level I was on but the better toilet, was upstairs. Upstairs I go, and in to find....

It wasn't plugged in. This bathroom was doing double duty as a storage unit. The weird part was I felt like the TV was watching me. Very unnerving.

Wrestling match the other night. I could make up a dozen fake and funny captions, but I'll leave that to the imagination of the viewers.

Winter dances on my window, and leaves it's mark...

My Day with a Biiiiig Fishy

The other day I had an assignment that a drew in large crowd of spectators, equipped with cameras, video cameras, cell phone cameras.

It looks like I was covering a celebrity, but it wasn't even a person.














Instead, it was a 400 pound tuna.

Mitsuwa Marketplace, a huge Japanese grocery store, held a tuna carving demonstration - in which this guy, visiting from Japan, cut up the tuna in front an excited crowd.




















It was impressive, but I have to wonder about people that video these types of things. Really? Are they sitting at home a few days later, discovering nothing is on television, so they pull out the DVD they've made of a man carving a big tuna?

After the carving the tuna was cut into fillets, which went for $61 a pound. Needless to say, I couldn't afford a sample.
The head of the tuna, was auctioned off for $50.

I have no idea what you do with the head of a 400 pound tuna, but apparently a young guy in the crowd must have. (I would have loved to see that guy's wife's reaction when he got home. "You spent $50 on a WHAT?!")

Having pets, is therapeutic. They offer unconditional love, furry support, and comic relief.And recently work made it possible for me to acquire a new Mark III. What could be better but a test run on my puppies.

Lake in the Hills was hit with some ridiculous storms recently. Ribfest suffered. I guess rain-soaked ribs aren't that appealing.

So I've been neglecting to post anything. But a lot of wanderings have been happening. I will do my best to sum up the past few months.

First, in June - I went to Cancun.
I stayed in an amazing hotel,















Where I ate, drank, and snoozed in the sun.

Soon after spending a ridiculously fantastic time lying on the beach, hanging out with close friends and relatives, sipping on frothy fruity drinks and soaking up enough sun to fulfill my Vitamin D requirement until I'm 80 years old, I left my new hubby to join 25 Barrington High School students on their trip to Crow's Creek indian reservation in South Dakota. The experience was mind blowing.

It's hard to summarize. I spent time in a beautiful area with mosquitoes the size of pelicans, local Lakota children, a horse named Tango.




There were violent, breathtaking storms, complete with light, color and fervor.












The experiences shared by the students from Barrington proved to be emotional and spiritual.


I hope to return. There was a peace there. I am not a heavily spiritual person, but there was an energy there that was comforting. and impossible to ignore.
